Hello,
can anyone tell me, whether the spanish army has a special military mail system (fieldpost)? I got a letter from a friend, whos served at KFOR and sent me a letter via spanish post. The letter was canvelled in Madrid - but I can see no special remark of "military":

If anyone can help - I would be glad...

PS: I'm also one of the mods of forum at german philatelic society - if anyone has questions reg. german stamps or military mail..no problem!

Hi Albu
Perhaps in the website of the Spanish Army you can find information about this. The Ministry of Defence have a special page in english version, with many links to differents areas and departaments (Peacekeeping Missions too) and direct links to contact them.

The link is:

Best regards

Jorge

...I waited some days - but I got no answer and the site of spanish army is excellent - but gives no info about "how to write to spanish soldiers on mission..." - so the answer to my question is "open"

I want to "push" my question again - as I didn't get any answer from army or ministry of defence...

May be a collector of military mail can help me?

Hello

There are two types of military mail nowadays:

- Personnal mail that is processed as normal mail, so the marks are the ones you can see in any letter.
- Official mail, that is processed by military ways. Marks in this letters are not easy to achieve since this is a classified matter.

Hope to help.

Hola, tal vez pueda ayudarte.

Hey, maybe I can help.
Soldiers stationed abroad do not have post offices as before or have other units in other countries.
The system is the following, a soldier deployed in Afghanistan (for example) sends a letter to Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (for example), this letter is placed in mail bags they leave the Spanish Base in Afghanistan and arrived in Madrid, there are postmarked with the inscription "MADRID - MINISTRY OF DEFENCE + DATE"and then Spanish postal service mail, it makes getting to your destination in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, no mention whatsoever in the letter that comes from Afghanistan .
It's a shame because the Americans if they reflect in your mail, especially on the postmark, the origin of the letter indicating even the name of the base.
My one friend sent me one from Herat and and therefore know as shipping.
I'm sorry I informed so late, but had not seen this post so far, greetings
